About Us

Hi I’m Hailey, The Woman Behind the Hot Glue Gun.

Hailey 1

It was a Tuesday in February, the kind of gray afternoon that makes you rearrange furniture just to feel like something changed, when I pulled an old dresser to the curb, looked at it for exactly four seconds, and dragged it back inside instead.

That dresser became the first project I ever photographed for DIY Craft Bloom. It’s still in my hallway, sanded down and repainted a color I now refer to only as “the mistake teal,” because I mixed it wrong and liked it too much to fix.

Why Craft and Decor, Specifically

I didn’t grow up with a Pinterest board. I grew up with a mother who reupholstered furniture in the garage on weekends and a father who kept every scrap of wood “just in case.” By 34, I’d rewired that habit into something people actually wanted to read.

I’m not chasing trends for the sake of content. I’m chasing the specific, quiet satisfaction of turning something ordinary into something you’d actually want in your living room. That’s the whole engine behind DIY Craft Bloom.

What You’ll Actually Find Here

DIY Craft Bloom isn’t a catch-all. Here’s what shows up on the site and why each one earns its place:

  • Paper craft projects, the kind that turn a stack of cardstock and an afternoon into something worth keeping
  • Easy crafts, built for the version of you that has twenty minutes and no interest in a supply list longer than the project itself
  • DIY craft ideas, timed so you actually have the materials in stock when you read them
  • Gift craft projects, made for the person who’d rather build something than buy it off a shelf
  • Small-space decor touches, tested in my own 900-square-foot apartment before they’re published

My Background

Before DIY Craft Bloom, I spent six years managing visual merchandising for a regional home goods chain, the kind of job where you learn exactly how a room reads from ten feet away and exactly how cheap trim can look expensive if you paint it right.

I left that role in 2021 to build the blog full time, and I’ve since completed over 300 documented projects, each one photographed start to finish, mistakes included.

A Few Things About Me

  • I own 22 paintbrushes and I can tell you what each one is actually for, which is more than most hardware store employees can say
  • My toolbox has a drawer labeled “for later,” full of hinges, knobs, and hardware I’ve pulled off pieces I’ve flipped
  • I repaint my own front door every spring, not because it needs it, but because it’s how I test new color combinations before I recommend them
  • I have strong, mildly annoying opinions about wood filler brands

How Every Post Gets Made

Every tutorial on DIY Craft Bloom gets built before it gets written. I do the project myself, time the steps, and note where it actually goes wrong, not just where it’s supposed to go right.

Once I have a draft, I fact-check it against real material costs and specs, then review it a second time before it goes live. I revisit older posts and update them when a product gets discontinued or a better method comes along.

If a post includes an affiliate link or a sponsored partnership, I mark it clearly, right where you’d see it, not buried in fine print somewhere you’d have to go looking for.

Who This Blog Is For

DIY Craft Bloom is for the person who has a Saturday free and a piece of furniture they’re not quite ready to give up on. It’s for renters who want their space to feel finished without violating a lease.

It’s for anyone who has ever stood in a hardware store aisle completely overwhelmed and just wanted someone to tell them which can of paint to buy.

Stay in Touch
